- Post-Procedural Swelling
This is for all my newbies – swelling will occur when you leave my office and it can be pretty significant at times. One side of our face is longer and stronger. We do NOT swell equally on both sides so YES, your face, lips, tear troughs whatever you had injected may look crazy, distorted, and uneven. The first 48 hours is the worst. You have to be patient and follow my instructions and STOP looking at yourself in the mirror, get off Google, RealSelf, and IG searching for complications and botch jobs. Take Benadryl and get off the Internet.
After tear trough treatment, you can have delayed swelling 2-4 weeks after injection. HA holds 1000x it’s weight in water. Think about the water absorbed when you throw a sponge in a bucket of water. This is the same thing. If this occurs, take Zyrtec and you can also press the filler down to flatten it out. Sometimes it just expands a little too much and it needs to be flattened out. Don’t worry, you will not mess it up if you press it down. Avoid salty foods and alcohol. Be patient and get off the Internet. Some of the clients that this has happened to literally just needed me to press it down and smooth it out, and it has worked every time.
